Cecil County Information
Cecil County is bisected from east to west by the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal. The canal is the busiest in the U.S. and 3rd busiest in the world. Today the 450’-wide canal is a modern sea-level, electronically controlled commercial waterway, carrying 40 percent of all ship traffic in and out of the Port of Baltimore. The canal passes through the town of Chesapeake City, where a high-level bridge 135’-high facilitates the passage of large ships beneath Route 213. The quaint town of Chesapeake City has shops and the waterfront restaurant is a tourist desintation to dine and watch ships pass. Cecil County, MD
