Queen Anne’s County has scenic waterways and farms providing beautiful settings for real estate. Tree-lined streets showcase Colonial period homes and gracious Victorian dwellings. A trading post was established on Kent Island in 1631, making it one of the earliest European settlements in what later would become the state of Maryland. Queen Anne’s County was created in 1706 and named for Anne, the reigning queen of England. Centreville is the county seat.
The historic town with its tree-lined streets and rich history is a classic example of small-town Americana. Lovers of historic architecture can enjoy the Colonial period homes as well as gracious Victorian dwellings.
Kent Island is a popular commuting area for the Annapolis, Baltimore and Washington, D.C. area with its easy access to the Bay Bridge. There are shopping centers, waterfront dining, marinas and walking trails. Real Estate options include condos, single family communities, and private estates on the many waterways.
Queen Anne’s County has a multitude of parks and trails throughout the whole area. The Cross Island Trail is a beautiful six-mile paved trail that wanders through woods, around creeks, a wildflower meadow and marshes. Other nature parks include the Terrapin Beach Park. Centreville Wharf Park provides access to the Corsica River and offers a kayak launch, boardwalk and park with a pavilion.
Church Hill Theatre received the Preservation Maryland a Best of Maryland award in 2019. The Theatre is housed in an art deco style building with a 75 year history of providing a meeting and entertainment venue for the public. The theater has year round performances of live theatre and music, educational opportunities in the dramatic arts and a summer drama camp for children.
